Homemade Diaper Wipe Recipes
Below we have recipes for making your own cloth diaper wipe solutions.  They are natural, good for baby, easy to make and VERY cost effective!  By making your own Diaper Wipes, you can control the ingredients, fragrance and cost.  Try a few and see what works best for you.  We recommend using our Organic Washies, but for occasional disposable use, try Viva paper towels (they are the softest!).

When on the go, either take pre-moistened wipes in a Ziploc baggie or take dry cloths and put the wipe mixture in a small spray bottle.  For containers, use any air tight box such as a used wipe container, Tupperware or Rubbermaid containers.

When you are finished cleaning baby, just put the cloth wipe with the dirty diaper into your diaper pail for later washing. (See Cloth Diapering Basics for laundry suggestions)

Baby will appreciate you using these in your diaper wipe warmer, too!

The average cost of a 72-80 pack of store bought
disposable wipes is about $5.
Using an average of 1.5 packs per month = $7.50
$7.50 x 30 months of diapering
= $225 for disposable wipes

This is a conservative estimate and does not factor in using natural wipes.  A box of natural wipes will run you closer to $12.00 per box of 20 wipes!

Remember, you will need to continue buying disposable wipes for each child so this figure gets multiplied!
Depending on your fabric choices, you can purchase cloth wipes that should last you through at least two children, if not three or four,
for about $30:

To wipe baby's bottom clean using our small cloth wipes, you'll spend about $30 for 24 wipes.
That's it!  No buying more wipes each month
= $30-$52 for cloth wipes

= $25.98 per dozen
= $14.99 per dozen

Wondering how many cloth wipes you'll need?  We recommend at least 2 dozen wipes if you do not plan on using disposable wipes.  A safe amount is to have a wipe for each diaper change plus another 1/2 dozen for messy diapers and other uses.

Make extra solution - it can be stored in a spray bottle or jar
in the refrigerator for later use!
